Adult Ministry

Adult Educational and Service Organizations:

Adult Bible Study:
Opportunity shall be provided for all members of the congregation and their friends to increase in their knowledge of the Word of God. These opportunities occur whenever there is a group who wish to meet together. The pastor shall either lead or be the spiritual advisor by virtue of his Call to the group. To this point there are study groups on Sunday mornings, after each service. The leader is usually the pastor. Guest leaders can be brought in. Films, film-strips, videos, etc. are also resources. All members have occasion to suggest topics or subjects for study.

Adult Confirmation Classes:
For adults from a non-Lutheran background who wish to become members, a 10 to 12 week period of instruction is required. Those can be done individually or with a small group. Call Pastor to schedule those meetings.

Men’s Club:
The Men’s Club is a member of the International Lutheran Laymen’s League of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. Its purpose is to promote the Gospel ministry of Jesus Christ. Within the organization, good Christian fellowship is fostered. Men’s Club meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 8:00 p.m.

Immanuel-Lites:
The Immanuel-Lites meets in the evening, the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. It is a group that meets for Bible Study, fellowship, and service within the congregation. It is affiliated with the L.W.M.L. (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League). It works for mission projects at the local, national, and international level, as the group decides.

Mens Choir:
The Men’s Choir is rich in tradition since it began back in 1923. The Men’s Choir is an opportunity for men to serve God with their talents of music. It is open to all confirmed men of the congregation.

Ladies’ Choir:
The Ladies’ Choir was begun for the sole expression of praise to God by any of the ladies who enjoy singing.

Church Greeters:
Individuals, couples, and families are invited to volunteer by signing the list for the year in which they offer their services to greet members and guests each Sunday and holiday. Watch the Sunday bulletin and listen for announcements for sign-up.

Altar Service:
Open to all members of the congregation (individuals or couples: husband and wife, mother and daughter, sisters, friends). Alter service includes caring for the flowers, linens, dusting of Chancel appointments, changing paraments by the liturgical calendar, filling candles, and cleaning communion ware. Two people serve each month.

Funeral Committee:
All adult ladies of Immanuel are assigned to a Funeral Committee which serves lunch after funerals at Immanuel. There are six groups which rotate these duties. Usually each group serves about once per year.
